Some ideas for stepping out after hours
Live music always makes for a great datenight. Catch a set by "Berkshire County's favorite rock-jazz-blues band," the BTUs, according to Firefly in Lenox at 8 p.m. Visit the Firefly at 71 Church St., Lenox.
Country-folk quintet The Novel Ideas, featuring singer Sarah Grella, Danny Hoshino on guitar, local James Parkington on bass and vocals and Daniel Radin on guitar and vocals, will perform at the Stationery Factory at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7:30; tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Head to Tavern at the A for a "Rock and Roll New Year's Party Like it's 1978," 9 p.m. to midnight. Join Kiss tribute band Dr. Strangeways and Motorhead tribute band Bomber. Tickets are $10. This is a 21 and older event. Tavern at the A is located at 303 Crane Ave., Pittsfield.
The Psychic Friends with Kara Rose Wolf will perform at Mission Bar and Tapas, 7 to 10 p.m., 438 North St., Pittsfield.
Miss Tess and the Talk Backs present a New Year's Eve Eve show at the Barn at the Egremont Village Inn, 8 p.m. According to the Barn, "Infused with classic country and honky-tonk, southern rhythm and blues, New Orleans jazz and swing, and sounds of swamp pop and early rock n' roll, she is an embodiment of everything that it still home-grown in America." Hilltop Orchards is hosting a Full Moon snowshoe event and bonfire, 6:15 to 10:15 p.m. Holly Brouker will lead the group on an interactive hike incorporating Native American traditions relating to moonlight, followed by a bonfire, entertainment and a wine tasting. NEW YEAR'S EVE
It's couples night at Berkshire Paint and Sip. Work together on a double-wide painting, "Pouring Heart," $35 per person, 7 to 9 p.m., 305 North St., Pittsfield. Get fancy with Berkshire Salsa at Tavern at the A. They are hosting a Black and White Holiday Gala with DJ Redscare, live music by Conjunto Alegre and a cash bar. Put on your dancing shoes and break out your salsa, bachata or merengue. Tickets are $25 at the door. Remember, dress is black and white!
Shire Breu-Hous is holding a New Year's Eve Speakeasy, presented by Sound and Vision event collective with music by DJ Jerrid Coty, food, drinks, dancing and a toast at midnight. Tickets are $25 at the door, 63 Flansburg Ave., Dalton.
It's First Night of Funny at Berkshire Theatre Group. Head to the Colonial for a show with comedians Ross Bennett, Eddie Clark and Kevin Bartini, 8 to 10 p.m., 111 South St., Pittsfield. Tickets are $35.
